Organising an event can bring up lots of questions that you maybe hadn't considered. Here's a few popular ones we are asked.
Our acts are available to perform anywhere in the world. We will work out and discuss travel options with you and our quotes include travel costs so there are no hidden extras.
Normally an act will arrive 2 hours in advance of the time they are scheduled to perform. If the act is performing in a venue that is being used by the guests (e.g. a room or marquee where a wedding reception is taking place), we can offer early set-up and sound check whereby the act will arrive before any guests are present at all. This will incur an early set-up fee, which can be discussed during the booking process.
Each of our live acts will require some time to set up and sound-check to ensure the highest sound quality for each event.
We suggest that a 3 - 5 piece act should take 1 hour to set up and sound check, and a 6 piece + act should take 1.5 hours to set up and sound check. This time frame includes contingencies for the majority of events, however on rare occasions there may be variables outside of our control which may increase the time required. These variables can include:
Our acts are professionals, and so encounter different types of venues on a regular basis. Therefore, they will in all cases aim to reduce the time spent setting up and sound checking, even if a problem arises. Our acts are, however, instructed to never do anything which is unsafe or potentially dangerous.
Most of our live acts play for up to two hours, divided into either two 60 minute sets or three 40 minute sets, which usually works well for an evening event needing to finish by midnight.
Our DJs can cover an entire evening or fill the gaps between sets or other acts. Soloists and duos are usually booked by the hour but we can be very flexible. If you have specific requirements on set length just simply give us a shout so we can discuss and arrange the best solution for you.
Most of our acts are very willing to learn your first dance for you for no extra charge, and extra requests can be discussed and included in your quote.
If booking a live band then the song may need to adapted to suit the chosen line up.
Our DJ service is totally bespoke and you can have the freedom to chose as many requests as you like. Find out more.
If you haven’t already arranged a separate DJ, many acts will provide an iPod playlist, played through their PA system between sets.
Each different act may require a different sized space according to the number of musicians, their set-up and layout. We will advise you of the exact space requirement once you have selected your preferred act.
Depending on the type of event, staging can be a great addition to a show, however our acts can perform without staging also.
If you do want to hire staging, please check with us first about the required size. If you need help with stage hire we can help provide this separately.
Most of our acts are able to play outside as long as there is sufficient weather-proof shelter (ideally we require gazebos/marquees with at least three sides). The electrical supply must obviously be sheltered and safe, and appropriate staging or flooring can also be necessary depending on the act. If you are unsure of the criteria needed for your chosen act, please contact us to check.
The rider can be found on your booking form and notifies you of requirements for the act you are booking. These will mainly concern food and drink and changing rooms.Food and Drink
The rider for the acts is a hot meal and refreshments for all personnel attending. This helps keep their energy up on the day so that they are ready to give you and your guests an amazing show. If this is difficult for you to provide, we can arrange for a meal supplement to be added to the booking fee.
All acts require a private room where they can eat, change and prepare for the performance. Ideally, this should contain a mirror, table and chairs. Venue toilets are not an ideal changing facility, so if you are struggling to source a changing room at your venue please get in touch so we can discuss the options.
Yes this is possible but must be requested in advance of the event.
A Sound Limiter is a ‘volume control’ that cuts out the electricity supply if sound levels reach a certain volume, for a set amount of time. Most of our acts are used to working with limiters but this will need to be discussed during the booking process so we can advise and tailor your act and equipment to work within these restraints.
All of our acts are covered with full Public Liability Insurance and their equipment is PAT tested. If required we can provide certificates upon request.
In the extremely unlikely case that an act needs to cancel or an act member cannot attend your event, we will find another suitable act or musician of equal or even better skill and similar style to stand in. We have years of experience and contacts, which means we will find a replacement performer that will in no way compromise the sound or quality of the act.
For that reason, but excluding force majeure (see our terms and conditions) we can make sure your event entertainment is covered.
