Meet the DJ

Meet the DJ

Not long now until the party season is in full flow so we thought we’d catch up with our resident Toast DJ, Nick, for some insight in to how to make the most of this festive time of year!

Tell us about your most memorable moment as a DJ?

I had just started out as a DJ and it was one of the first weddings I played at. The Bride & Groom's first dance was to a Metallica song and they wanted Slipknot played straight afterwards. So the groom, the best man, the ushers, and about a dozen of their friends (all with massive beards and long hair) were moshing and head banging like crazy - and in the middle of it all was the bride! Something I never would have expected to see and definitely something I don't think I'll ever forget!!

What’s your favourite Christmas song?

For rocking out at a party you can't beat Slade or Wizzard, and I also really like 'Christmas Time (don't let the bells end)' by The Darkness for comedy value - but the one that really gets me feeling Christmassy (you know when you're out shopping mid November and you hear it being played in PoundLand) has got to be 'Stop the Cavalry' by Jona Lewie.

What’s the best song to end a New Year’s Eve party?

Such a difficult question because there are so many great songs! For New Year's Eve tho it's got to be something epic that will get everyone arm in arm and singing along at full volume! It really does depend on the crowd so it's very tricky to narrow it down to just one, but a couple of sure fire hits at either end of the scale would be Frank Sinatra - 'New York, New York', and Oasis - 'Don't look back in anger'.

What’s your favourite song to play right now?

Still getting a great reaction for 'Uptown Funk' by Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars. I think it's just a really great one to sing (and dance) along to!

Do you have any advice for those looking to book a DJ over the Christmas season?

Just don't leave it too late - the last thing you want is to have that panic a week before the event where you end up booking the first person you can find with an iPod and a flashing bow tie

King of the dance floor, Nick knows how to get your guests to rock around the clock! To find out more about booking a Toast DJ email us at  info@toastfunctions.com
