We caught up with our popular party band, Phonic Groove, in between events to get the inside knowledge on booking a party band for your event...
We’d love some background on you, how did the band come together?
The band originally formed nearly 10 years ago now, when we were studying for our Music degrees. The university chose the ‘cream of the crop’ of instrumentalists and vocalists to represent the university at an awards evening. We received lots of enquiries from just that one performance and we realised that we actually had something quite special, so decided to give it a go. Now 9 and half years down the line it’s now what we do for our living, and we couldn’t think of a better job to have.
What has been your most memorable moment when performing?
We’ve played many weddings, parties and corporate functions in our time, and there’s nothing better than when you play the first chord of the song and the dancefloor is full…. that is always an awesome feeling. However, we have also been fortunate to have been booked to play a few festivals in our time. Festivals are always a lot of fun. So we’d have to say headlining a local festival in front of 3000 people recently in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, was a great highlight.
What is your favourite song to perform as a band?
Ooooh there’s just too many. I guess I’ll base this question on what song gets the most people on the dancefloor … and I’ve got to say 'Mr Brightside' by The Killers as it never fails and also most recently 'Uptown Funk' by Mark Ronson is another killer tune and massive crowd pleaser.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their wedding?
With regards to the entertainment, go with your gut feeling, if you get a good feeling from seeing a live band or watching a video online, go with that band. If they tick all the boxes for you, then they are the right band. By the way have you seen our promo? :-)
What can people expect when hiring you?
We don’t think of ourselves as just your ‘usual’ function band…we are five professional musicians who never fail to deliver a fun, energetic, and above all, a top quality performance at every gig we perform.
